One of the things that got me frustrated last night was the installation of Adobe CS2 on my new MacBook. I always ended up with the computer freezing after the installation of the first of six CDs.
That was also the first instance that I had called Mac support. I was getting really furious thinking that I had bought a lemon! But through the course of my conversation with the Mac tech support lady, she was so nice and very patient with me. I was the inquisitive type and I had asked why we were doing certain steps. She explained them to me so clearly. That’s when I realized the importance of getting the AppleCare plan. I still have about 90 days of complimentary support before they start charging me $49/call (without the AppleCare plan). Anyway, I’m seriously thinking about it. For now, I’m just glad that someone had actually made the support experience very pleasant. This is a first! Oh, I didn’t have to wait hours! Someone was helping me out in less than 10 minutes!
So, anyway, back to the topic. Yeah, I was scared to re-install Adobe CS2 again fearing that I will get in trouble again. So, I turned to the Adobe online forums. I came across a post by Mark Todd who said that he disabled the installation of Version Cue and Acrobat when he installed the software on his MacBook Pro. It was a brilliant idea. It made sense now. When I was experiencing my own installation problems, it was the Version Cue that was sort of causing the problems.
I prayed that it would work, bravely attempted another installation, unchecked Acrobat and Version Cue, and Voilah!!! It was installing!!!
Anyway, I thought this might help someone out there who’s probably getting more white hairs than me in figuring out how to install Adobe CS2 on the new MacTels.

Said this at 5:49pm:I have had no problems since. I use Photoshop a lot and it’s been working perfectly. I have a 1gb RAM. I’m thinking of upgrading to 2gb, but I’m not sure if I really need that much.
