Six Movies

I went to Blockbuster and got myself half a dozen movies that I haven’t seen on the big screen. I thought I’d write a little critique.

The Family Stone

This movie is more drama than comedy. It’s a smart movie, I agree. However, I didn’t like how the ending was developed. Hmmm… I wish they just made the entire movie a drama. Sarah Jessica Parker was brilliant in the dramatic parts of the movie. It was a refreshing deviation from her character as Carrey Bradshaw. There were tear-jerker moments in the movie. I really felt for Meredith as she tried to fit in the family. I still believe it could have been a better movie minus the comedy.

Serenity

I enjoyed the movie from start to finish. I liked the action and suspense. However, the plot was a little shaky. It should have been given a different title. “River” would have been better since it evolved around her character. “Serenity” refers to the ship. Lame title. It wasn’t even a special ship.

Rent

I was very curious about this movie. Some of my friends said that this was a really good one and was at par with the Broadway musical. Naaahhhh. Waste of money. I got bored by the second song sequence and did not finish it at all. Looking for someone who wants the DVD. Any takers? Hmmmm… Maybe I should give it a second chance.

Just Like Heaven

Filmed in San Francisco. I’m biased. I miss the place. The movie is refreshing. Although, I honestly think that Reese cannot and must not be cast as a medical professional again. Please! Mark Ruffalo is delightful in this movie.

Zathura

I took a chance buying the DVD of this movie. I knew it wasn’t going to be as original as Jumanji. Nevertheless, I was hoping that it would offer something better. I should have gone with my instincts. I had to fast forward a lot of the scenes. I give it a rating of B for Boring.

Fantastic 4

I’m a sucker for superhero movies, from Superman to Batman to X-Men, etc. They were able to give justice to the Marvel characters. Loved every minute of the movie.

Six movies in less than a day. I need to get a life!
